About the Publisher
The Haiku Shack Magazine, a new digital publication, focuses on very short poetry and microfiction that seek to make an emotional impact. Every issue is inspired by a specific theme and photograph. Writers are invited to send their own interpretations of one or both for potential inclusion. Anyone at least 17 years of age, including emerging authors and never-published writers, can participate. No matter who you are and where you come from, your submission is welcome. Each issue has a submission deadline. However, as soon as a total of 40 accepted poems / stores has been reached, the deadline will close.
Submissions
We accept poetry (all forms) and short stories (all genres) that contain a maximum of 100 words. We are looking for meaningful and impactful work that shows instead of telling. We love stories and poems that teach and inspire, just like a good haiku would. Please read issue 1 to familiarize yourself with the type of work I enjoy. We will give preference to work focuses on our poetry forms and our Flashku. We also love haiku and tanka. However, we are happy to read and consider other things. NO SIMULTANEOUS SUBMISSIONS, PLEASE!
