Short Story about Tech Issues

Posted on November 8, 2012 by Richard

Well if you searched our site on Google yesterday, and maybe today, you will see a warning that says our site “may have been compromised.” Boy did this get us all jumping. We did not know that around the time of the Google crawl, we had someone having fun with the site. When I say fun, I mean they were trying to cause us all kinds of trouble and break into our home page. They posted some invisible spam links on EWR’s front page. So we scambled. We found the links and deleted them and then we searched and searched pages making sure they were safe for everyone. We were pretty sure this was the only change to the site, but we wanted to make sure.

At this time the site is safe to search and surf. None of our readers were in danger of being infected or anything like that. They would have simply ended up on a web page that was selling viagra if they clicked in the wrong place. So no worries.

To be double safe we have now hired a company to protect the site, and to search and clean it if they find anything.

We wanted you all to know that we are doing everything we can to keep all of our readers safe. You, our readers, are very important to us, and we just wanted you to know were were “on it.” Unfortunately we will not publish our short story or poem today. Instead these will be pushed back a day or so.

Thanks,

Richard
