Best Online Literary Magazines

In our book these are the best online literary magazines. The list may not be complete. We may have missed some, but we feel that every magazine on the list is worthy of this accolade. Simply each publishes on a consistent basis. They have a history, and they all publish great work. Some of these magazines we are sure you’ve heard of, but others may be new to you. We have a few on the list that get little fanfare. We feel they are always outstanding. The factors we used to judge are readership, consistency of publishing, quality of publishing, and when they were established. It helps if the publication was reviewed in Time Magazine like Jacket or if the publication has had work selected for inclusion in Best American Poetry. A national anthology inclusion is not a sure way to get on the list. The magazine must still consistently publish.

We do know there are other newer magazines out there that are blazing a trail across the internet right now, but if your publication is less than 5 years old we will not add you to the list. We feel time will tell. In order to be considered and online literary publication you must have all of your content on the web. If there is an accompanying print magazine that’s fine, but that content must still be published on the web for your publication to have made our list.
