    From the Editor

Dime Show Review is born from a dream. Yes, an in-the-bed, under-the-covers dream. I saw a circus poster in a reference from the Library of Congress dating from the 1880’s. Back then, the traveling circus was great entertainment. Intrigue, mystery, and a place to hang out with your friends. This is how the idea for Dime Show Review came to light. Today, Dime Show Review features stories and poetry and audio by emerging as well as established authors. Excellent writing is the focus. Drool-worthy goodness meant to be savored again and again. Need a ticket to get you where you’re going? Try the Dime Show Ticket Lady for writing prompts. Only have a minute? Visit the Typewriter Gallery for stories ten words in length.

Stories are published online on a rolling basis. Print publications are scheduled three times each year. Each volume will be registered with the Library of Congress. And, we have plans for an audio book companion.

So, c’mon, join the menagerie. Explore the minds and works of other writers. Want to submit a story or poem? Check out our Submission Guidelines.

    Submissions

Every original story or poem you write and submit is read by people who care about good writing.
-Fiction – should be complete stories, up to 3,000 words
-Flash Fiction – should be complete stories, up to 1,000 words
-Ten Word Stories – should be complete stories, up to 10 words
-Essay – nonfiction, up to 3,000 words
-Poetry – any form, 2 poems (each poem should not run longer than 2 pages)

Please submit your best work. I know that’s a lot to ask, but we’re working hard to publish the best and most interesting original new work. We’re open to considering work of a literary nature, but will not consider any submission that degrades or demeans anyone. We’re just not interested in hate material.

Stories and poems are accepted via online submission from February 1 through November 1, annually. That gives us a break over the holidays. If you’re unable to submit online, you may send your story or poem via snail mail: P.O. Box 760, Folsom, California 95763-0760, USA.
Simultaneous submissions are acceptable. However, if your work is accepted elsewhere, do the right thing and let us know promptly. We’re happy to consider stories or poetry published on a blog, an online magazine, or in Kindle (or other self-published) form as long as fewer than 100 copies have been sold.

Response time: you can generally expect a response from Dime Show Review in two to twelve weeks. If three months goes by and you haven’t received a response, feel free to inquire about the status of your work admin@dimeshowreview.com.
