    From the Editor

Fruitslice is a quarterly publication available both in print and e-book format. We are set to launch Winter 2023. Each issue is curated around a theme. For our first release, we are focusing on “Firsts”. Fruitslice is a grassroots publication created to spotlight queer artists, writers, creatives, etc. Fruitslice aims to strengthen community by highlighting the ‘goings on’ in the hearts and minds of queer people—a relic of the here and now. Fruitslice is a community editorial: a slice of literary journal, a slice of magazine, a slice of social commentary, a slice of collaboration, and a peek into the lives of the fruity. What can you expect from us? Get ready for a mouthwatering mix of poetry, collage, short story, personal essay, photography, playlists, local recommendations, activism, and more. Fruitslice is more than just a publication; it’s a community. We invite you to take a big, juicy bite of what we have to offer. Dive into our pages and explore the vibrant minds and hearts of queer individuals. Join us in celebrating the creativity and resilience that define us. At Fruitslice, we are on a mission to cultivate a vibrant and inclusive platform that celebrates the kaleidoscope of voices within the LGBTQ+ community and beyond. Our vision is rooted in the principles of community, collaboration, and artistic expression. Fruitslice is not just a publication; it’s a community of creators and advocates. Our purpose is threefold: Spotlighting Diversity: We are dedicated to showcasing the stories, artistry, and perspectives of individuals from diverse intersectional identities. We believe that every voice, regardless of age, gender, or background, has a place in our vibrant community. Promoting Social Change: Fruitslice stands firmly against racism, capitalism, and fascism. We amplify anti-racist, anti-capitalist, and anti-fascist work while championing crucial rights and equality issues, including queer rights, trans rights, women’s rights, disability rights, and indigenous rights. Celebrating Creative Expression: Fruitslice is a fusion of literary journal, magazine, social commentary, and collaboration. We invite artists to explore and creatively incorporate our theme into their work. From poignant personal experiences to joyous expressions of queer identity, we embrace it all. Our Commitment: We foster a culture of inclusivity, acceptance, and belonging. We maintain a rigorous yet supportive editorial process to ensure the highest quality. We provide a platform for voices that deserve to be heard, regardless of experience or background. Join us as we continue to create, connect, and celebrate the extraordinary richness of the LGBTQ+ and allied communities. Together, we are the slices that make up a diverse and delicious fruit salad of human experience. Welcome to Fruitslice, where every slice tells a story and every voice is heard.
