Litbreak Magazine

Litbreak Magazine

From the Editor

Litbreak is an online literary journal that is published by Jason Chambers and edited by Dennis Haritou. Our signature photography is by Jason Rice. We publish fiction, book reviews, essays and poetry year round.

We believe writers should be paid for their work. All contributors to Litbreak Magazine will be paid…from 15 dollars upward per accepted submission. There is no submission fee. We appreciate your work. Writers shouldn’t have to write for free. Please read our full submissions policy before offering us your writing.

All prose submissions should range from 500 words to a maximum of 5,000 words. Submission is open year round. In most cases, we will respond within three months. We request that you don’t follow up unless three months has past.
Submissions are accepted via Hey Publisher. Simply use the link below or use the Hey Publisher interface. Please include a brief biographical note with your submission, or add one to your account.

We will pay all contributors upon publication. Payment is via your PayPal account. Payment will be on a case-by-case basis from $15 upward.

Submitted work must be previously unpublished. We accept simultaneous submissions. Please inform us immediately if the work has been accepted elsewhere. The writer retains copyright.

With regard to fiction, there are no specific requirements on style and content. Some literary sites suggest you look at what they publish to get an idea of what they would accept. We would rather suggest that you look at what we have published and come up with something else. We will consider excerpts from novels.

For book reviews, although we are paying special attention to contemporary releases, we won’t rule out reviews of older books or critical surveys of a writer’s body of work. As a suggestion to book reviewers, please avoid hyperbole or generic, unsubstantiated praise or censure, directed at either the work or individuals.

For poetry, we suggest but don’t require a minimum of one hundred words. Payment will be on a case-by-case basis from $15 upward.

We may also accept essays on literary subjects or ideas. So if you have something deliberative and insightful to say, please consider us.

We don’t accept unsolicited interviews or translations.

Litbreak Magazine will launch on the first of December.
