Welcome to our game for writers. It is an Exquisite Corpse. An Exquisite Corpse is a writing or art game where you complete the story, poem or drawing in parts. Each author or artist cannot see the previous artists/writers work. In this case we are writing a poem together. It is a poem about anything. This is our second EC. Please try it. Others have had great fun doing this. See our last EC here.
In this case there is no restriction on words. This EC goes until we get to 100. Some numbers may be repeated. If they do they will entered in the order they were received.
Writers have been playing the Exquisite Corpse for years, usually they play on folded paper. We only wish we knew all of our readers that well. We will have to use some tech to get this done. Lets get started.
Here is how this will work. When you loaded this page there was a number loaded below. It is a random number. In order to play, you will write your random number in the comment below along with 1 line of poetry. For example if your number is 1E, write 1E in the comment with your line of poetry. Write only one line. If you want to write more than one line, reload the page for a new number.
Once we have enough lines between 25 and 100, we will show the results. That means I’ll collect all the lines, put them in order, and then I will publish the poem we have created.
Your Number is (write in the comment with your line of poetry)
We haven’t done one of these in a long time. Our Haiku, Horror Story, and 2 Sentence Stories are doing so well, we thought we’d add one more, Continue the Story…
This is not a contest, but if we publish the story, which I hope it turns out that we do, then you will get full credit for a publication with us.
The way you play this little game is simple. You just continue the story. You have to write a paragraph, each time that you continue the story, but you can write as many as you want as long as others are jumping in. You can take the story in any direction you like. Make sure it’s scary. We’ll start with one paragraph, and you continue it. If in the end we like the story, we want to publish it on EWR: Short Stories. Each person who adds to the story will get their name on the credits, with a bio and links to sites or books or whatever. One link per person.
We will edit this when we go to publish the story.
Continue the story is a time honored tradition of writers. It’s related to the Exquisite Corpse, which we also do on our site. Anyway, I hope you will add to this. It’a fun little exercise.
Here we go. Continue this story:
He heard the girl screaming in the distance. He was at least an hour from his home. The long walk in the night air had done him well. He felt rejuvenated until he hear the screaming, in the distance. He took his one headphone out of ear, so he could possibly get a direction to go to find her.
He had stopped jogging, and now roamed a large stone fence, listening. As he came to a break in the fence he could hear she was only a short distance away. He looked up to see, illuminated by the street lights, “Allan Park Memorial Cemetery.” He passed under the sign, and headed for the screams.
Call for Art Submissions
This is renewing an old call for art submissions! We want your art. We are looking for art of all kinds to display on our site and in our free digital magazine. We have dozens of visual artists on our site, but lately we have not been encouraging submissions.
We are looking for art for our site. We are looking for photos, paintings, computer art, anything that we can display on our site with short stories an poetry. The artist gets a feature page and we will always give credit to the artist. We also, twice a year do a digital issue of our site: Every Writer. You can get free copies by signing up for our mailing list here: http://www.everywritersresource.com/literarymagazines/writer-magazine-free/
We need art. We love art, and if you submit your art and we feature it, it could be on the cover of our issue, and or used in side our digital issue. We will feature you our site with a bio and your art, and we will link to any sites you send us.
If you are interested in seeing your art on our site, please send 5-8 pieces to email@example.com.
