971 MENU

971 MENU
971 MENU is a purely online not-for-profit venture. We publish whenever we have enough work to justify an issue. That means five pieces. The minimum time between issues is thirty days, and attempts are made to coincide with the first of the month. We publish fiction and nonfiction of any length and sometimes accidentally other stuff. 971 MENU began in September 2006 as a publisher of fiction under 1000 words. We are pleased with our work, and we are quite pleased with the high-quality work we have been fortunate enough to publish, but we no longer limit ourselves in terms of length. However, your chance of seeing a thirty-page epic here is fairly slim. We still put out the short stuff, and some that's a little bit longer.

At Length

At Length
At Length is a venue for ambitious, in-depth writing, music, photography, and art that are open to possibilities shorter forms preclude. As a print-friendly online magazine, we create ways for readers, listeners, and viewers to interact with noteworthy long work, and other publications have noticed. Among those who have recommended our writing and interviews are Harpers.org, NPR online, The Awl, VillageVoice.com and Longform.org, which called ?The Decisive Ones? one of the year?s 20 best essays. Best American Poetry 2011 will feature our selection of poems from Major Jackson?s Holding Company, and Best Music Writing 2011 will include Nate Chinen?s ?Direction Nowhere.?

autolycus

"autolycus" is an utterly independent literary journal, created by Genie Cartier and Emilio Aldrich. We aim to publish talented unknown writers, and sell the journal online and by consignment at places such as City Lights and the Beat Museum. All proceeds will go to the production costs of the journal. We hope to create something dripping with artistic integrity, with no funding or support of any kind from The Man. AUTOLYCUS IS NOW AVAILABLE AT CITY LIGHTS BOOKSTORE!
